Elkan Abramowitz has built his career as a trial lawyer representing clients facing high stakes personal and professional crises both in and outside the courtroom. He has been described as “an unquestioned dean of the field … with a potent combination of experience, intelligence and composure” and as a “towering figure.” Elkan is a “superb strategist and tactician” who has represented a host of well-known individuals and corporations over the course of his “illustrious career” to date. Elkan was selected by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business to receive its Lifetime Achievement Award and named “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation: The Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms & Attorneys. In 2008, he was honored with the New York Council of Defense Lawyers’ Norman S. Ostrow award for the defense of liberty and the preservation of individual rights. Elkan is the recipient of the 1999 Milton S. Gould Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy presented by the Office of the Appellate Defender.
Elkan served as an Assistant United States Attorney under Robert M. Morgenthau and followed him to City Hall to serve as one of his Deputy Assistant Mayors. He also served as Special Counsel to the Select Committee on Crime for the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to becoming a principal at a predecessor firm to Morvillo Abramowitz in 1979, he served as the Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

Mary Jo White is a litigation partner and the Senior Chair of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP where she heads the firm’s Strategic Crisis Response and Solutions Group and represents clients in high-profile white collar, SEC and other significant matters.
Ms. White also has a distinguished record of public service, including as Chair of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and as the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
Under her leadership as SEC Chair, from 2013-2017, the Commission significantly enhanced its enforcement program and strengthened protections for investors and the markets through a range of transformative initiatives.
As the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1993 to 2002, Ms. White, the first woman to hold that position, oversaw countless groundbreaking prosecutions, which included complex white collar crime, international terrorism, organized violent gang and other major cases. Her renowned work in international terrorism included the successful prosecutions of those responsible for the1993 World Trade Center bombing, the Day of Terror Plot, the Manila Air Plot and the indictment of Osama bin Laden for his role in the 1998 East African embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, as well as the investigation of the 9/11 attacks.
Ms. White is ranked as a top-tier, star lawyer and is a recipient of numerous honors. She has also been named to the Forbes “Power Women List,” the National Law Journal’s “50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America,” and Crain’s New York Business “Most Powerful Women.”
Ms. White graduated from William & Mary, Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Psychology, The New School for Social Research with an M.A. in Psychology and Columbia Law School with a J.D., where she was an officer of the Law Review.
